Evan Morden, Organizer (Humboldt)

Evan Morden is a Humboldt County local, born and raised on unceded Wiyot territory in what is now called Arcata. Evan started working with True North as an Intern while pursuing his undergraduate degree at HSU, and quickly found a passion for community organizing and social justice advocacy. His work with True North focuses on affordable housing and community-based solutions to houselessness. Evan also assists with COVID-19 vaccine outreach, immigration, True North’s California State Parks renaming initiative, and youth organizing. Prior to working in community organizing, Evan worked extensively in the local restaurant industry where he enjoyed creating lasting relationships with customers and coworkers and sharing the beauty of the North Coast with travelers from all over the world.

In his free time, Evan is an avid violinist and fiddler, playing in multiple bands that perform for a wide variety of local events. He also enjoys birdwatching, going for long hikes in the redwoods, and spending time at home with his two cats. Evan holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Justice Studies and is currently a graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Public Sociology at Humboldt State University, where his research focuses on measuring the unhoused community’s voice in the creation of street outreach programs and affordable housing.
