Housing For All

Many in our communities face the harsh reality of unaffordable housing and insecurity. Through their stories, we see the urgent need for change. True North empowers local leaders to advocate for housing solutions that ensure everyone has a safe, stable place to live, regardless of their background or income.

Community Impact

  • After years of organizing, building relationships, fundraising, and persistently demanding action, True North is proud to see Del Norte’s emergency homeless shelter and micro village transitional housing project moving forward!

The journey started in 2018, with True North's leaders getting both the city and county boards to declare a shelter crisis and pledge to end homelessness. Since then, our leaders have supported the conversion of a motel into permanent supportive housing. They helped start the county's AD HOC Housing Committee, tasked with finding humane and dignified solutions to Del Norte's homeless encampments. This included winning a $10.8 mIllion grant to create a continuum of housing options to help homeless people become self-sufficient and secure. True North leaders have also supported Del Norte Mission Possible to grow and evolve.

With the 60-bed emergency shelter expected to open by June 2025, and the 60-unit micro village project to follow soon after, this achievement represents the power of community organizing to craft a shared vision towards dignity and stability for our unhoused neighbors. It's more than just shelter—it’s the culmination of voices, hopes, and hard work coming together.
