Your voice matters for Smith River.
The Smith River is one of the cleanest, wildest rivers on the West Coast. But for decades, lily bulb farming in the estuary has relied on massive amounts of toxic pesticides. These chemicals don’t stay in the fields — they drift into neighborhoods, surround Smith River Elementary School, and seep into the water that families use every day.
Community members have reported rashes, coughs, and unsafe drinking water. Endangered salmon at the mouth of the river have also been harmed, with federal agencies warning growers in 2018 that they were in violation of the Clean Water Act.
Now, the North Coast Regional Water Board is coming to Crescent City to hear from the public. This is our chance to stand together and demand stronger protections.
📍 Where: Board of Supervisors Chambers, 981 H St, Crescent City
 🗓 When: Wednesday, October 8th | 6–9pm
Why attend?
Protect drinking and bathing water
Stop toxic spray drift and contamination

Protect salmon and river health
Every testimony and concern adds pressure for stronger protections. Bring your story. Bring your neighbors.
Together, we can make a difference.
